How break-even calculator works

A break-even calculator finds the point where total revenue equals total costs. It divides your fixed costs by the difference between selling price and variable cost per unit to show how many units you need to sell before making a profit.

What it’s useful for

  • Finding how many units to sell to cover costs
  • Setting a viable selling price for a product
  • Testing how pricing or cost changes affect profit
  • Planning budgets for a new business or product line
